Mutiara Bali Resort Villas & Spa || Review

Mutiara Bali Resort and Spa Review

LOCATION

Before booking any hotel or villa, you must decide what your purpose is; do you want to be on the beachfront, by the strip of restaurants, or in-between both. In any case, the Mutiara is the perfect balance for all your desires to be fulfilled in Seminyak. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the beach, and about 5 to the main strip of restaurants. I loved walking from location to location to get a real feel for the surrounding area.

ROOMS AND VILLAS

The Mutiara offers resort rooms and a number of villas. Prices start at £40 which is extremely affordable! Spread across two floors, each of the rooms are within a 30-second walk to the pool, ideal! If your room is located on the ground floor, your balcony opens out to the pool, and if you're on the first floor you have a more traditional balcony with a table set. With Free wifi and AirConditioning as standard, the Mutiara met all of my expectations. The staff at the Mutiara were unbelievably polite and accommodating, I couldn't have asked for anything more; they even organised our day trips for us.

ROOM AND EN-SUITE

I stayed at the Mutiara Resort twice, both times in the rooms rather than the villas. The beds were extremely comfortable, perfect to come back to after a busy day exploring Bali, or even if you've been chilling by the pool- the heat is exhausting! The rooms have a mini-bar, a flat-screen TV, balcony, spacious wardrobes, and an en-suite. To be honest, we hardly used the mini-bar or flat-screen, but I guess it's good to have them there! We typically used our balcony in the evenings, purchasing a few bottles of Bintang beer (local beer) and playing card games. It was such a lovely way to spend an evening if you've been busy in the day time! The rooms are inspired by Bali in the 90s; comfort is key. The en-suite offers a Bali-style shower, toilet, bidet, and sink all in a relatively large space. The shower stays hot and is relatively powerful; there's nothing worse than having to have a cold shower if you aren't in the mood for one. The showers have a glass roof, being lit by natural sunlight; its the perfect way to wake up in the morning. If you opted for a deluxe room, the bathroom is slightly larger with a bathtub for added luxury. The towels are only replaced if left on the floor, this is an energy-saving measure. I would typically wait a few days before asking for mine to be replaced.

POOL

The shared pool was paradise. Although shared amongst the resort, I have only had to share the pool a few occasions, it was like our own private pool! With room to swim lengths, play in the pool, or paddle on the shallow side, I was in heaven. There are a number of sunbeds around the pool, with adjustable backs. The only complaint I had was the lack of shade. There were tables with a parasol on at either end of the sunbeds for shade, but sometimes you want to lie on the sunbeds in shade. A few people have stated this in reviews of the hotel so I'm sure they'll get to it soon! You could also order cocktails and snacks to be delivered to your spot by the pool; I recommend the calamari!!

DINING

Generally, the food at the Mutiara is outstanding. Available for room/villa service, or to dine in at the restaurant. The restaurant is typically very quiet, but it's a lovely setting. I especially recommend the Balinese Duck; it was tender and perfectly seasoned! The one complaint I do have about the dining... the breakfast. It is included in the price of most rooms or costs approximately £7 a day. The options were relatively limited and nothing overly flavourful, which was disappointing. The fruit selection was extremely fresh and juicy though! However, we typically decided to explore nearby restaurants and cafes for breakfast, so it wasn't much of an issue.

GYM

Included in the cost of your stay is entry to the gym. There's access to:

  • Treadmill

  • Multi-function machine

  • Cross trainer

  • Stationary bike

  • Sit-up bench

Although I haven't used the gym facilities here myself, my dad thoroughly enjoyed being able to have a morning run out of the heat!

SPA AND WELLNESS CENTRE

  • 5 types of body massages

  • 4 types of body treatments

  • 1 type of Facial

  • 2 types of Nail Care

  • Frangipani Bali Package (2 hours; massage, facial, head massage)

I would suggest booking your treatment a couple of days in advance to the date you want your treatment, due to the fact that it provides more than enough time for the staff to prepare. My mum, sister and I each had the Frangipani Bali Package, I can't recommend this treatment enough. The staff were so lovely, made us feel extremely comfortable, and ensured we had everything we needed.

BUSINESS CENTRE

With free use of computers, printers, pens and internet, you can easily print out any booking confirmations you need.

OVERALL

I would highly recommend the Mutiara Bali for anyone travelling to Bali. The price is extremely good value for money, if anything they could increase the cost per night and I would still book. They even offer an airport shuttle for a small additional fee, however, your travel agent may organise a free transfer.
